The easiest way to take a screenshot is using the Oculus Touch controller, but there’s no dedicated screenshot button, how do you do it? Turns out it’s almost as easy as taking a screenshot on a smartphone – you just need to know which buttons to press.

On your Oculus Touch controller, simply hold down the Oculus button on the right controller and press the trigger on one of your controllers to take a screenshot.

If successful, you’ll hear the camera shutter sound and get a notification letting you know that you’ve taken a screenshot.

Take a screenshot or record a video on Quest 2 using the on-screen controls

If, for whatever reason, you can’t take a screenshot with the Oculus Touch controller, there’s a way to enable the function using the on-screen controls from within the virtual world – but it’s far from perfect. Totally quick and easy as some people might like.

If you want to take a screenshot or video of a virtual game or Oculus Quest 2 experience using the on-screen controls, press the Oculus button on the right controller to take you to the Oculus menu.

Once you’ve opened the Files app, select the media tab on the left menu. You will then be able to browse through all the screenshots and videos currently stored on the headset.

Extra tip: if you’re running Oculus v32 software or later, you’ll be able to sync your shots with the Oculus app on your smartphone. Simply tap the cloud icon in the upper right corner to enable the function and open the Oculus app on your smartphone to initiate the syncing process.
