How to set up PS4 Remote Play on PC or Mac

Step 1) Download and install the PC/Mac app. The first step in our implementation is to download the official Remote Play app for PC or Mac – you can download it from here. Once you’ve downloaded the installer, simply install the app by following the onscreen instructions.

Step 2) Update your PS4 software to 3.50 if you haven’t already. Depending on your PlayStation 4 settings, you’ll be prompted to download and install the update automatically. However, if this doesn’t happen, don’t worry – you can also go to Settings > System Software Update to manually trigger the update.

Step 3) Open the PC Remote Play app and connect your DualShock 4 controller. While most PCs and Macs offer Bluetooth support, Sony designed the Remote Play app to only work with wired connections. This means that you will have to plug the PS4 controller into your PC/Mac via a USB cable, then click “Get Started”.

Step 4) Sign in to your PSN account. This account should be the same as the main account you use on your PlayStation 4.

Step 5a) The app will automatically search your PS4. The search may take a few minutes but if it does not show up after a long period of time, it must be done manually. Sony states that search won’t find your PlayStation 4 over the Internet if it’s not registered as your primary PS4 or if it’s powered off completely (as opposed to in Sleep Mode, where it can turn on from distant).

Step 5b) If not found, click Connect manually. It should be noted that manually connecting to your PS4 requires both PS4 and PC/Mac to be on the same network. On your PS4, go to Settings > Remote Play Connection Settings > Add Device and enter the number provided on the Remote Play app.

Step 6 – Get ready to play the game. If all goes well, your PC will then connect to the PS4 and you can start playing the game right from the start. If you want to adjust your connection settings, you must first disconnect from Remote Play by turning off your PS4 or closing the Remote Play app. Before clicking “Start” to connect to your PS4, click Settings and adjust Resolution/Frame Rate.

Play PlayStation games on PC with PlayStation Now

For those who don’t have a PlayStation, never fear – While Sony’s PlayStation Now service isn’t necessarily new, it’s also available on PC and Mac now. What does this mean for gamers? Essentially, it could open up a new market for Sony, as it allows gamers to play PlayStation games at random without having to invest in a PlayStation.

For those unaware of the service, Sony offers gamers the chance to browse a catalog of over 500 PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 games, including big names like Uncharted and The Last of Us.

The biggest benefit to gamers is that most of the titles in Sony’s library can be streamed instantly (if you have a fast enough internet connection!) Although the games are larger, they cost less. More details may require a small download first.

New gamers get a seven-day trial to test Sony’s Netflix gaming service, and those who like it can pay £12.99 a month to keep using it. New games are also added every month, so there’s no risk of the collection becoming boring.

There’s also a dongle available for PC and Mac gamers, allowing them to wirelessly use their DualShock 4 controller (it can only be used with a current cord) when playing PS Now games. , as well as other controller-enabled games.

Want to know how to play some PlayStation games on your PC? Well, here’s how to do it:

first) Download the PlayStation Now for PC installer from the Sony website, run the installer, and follow the onscreen prompts to install the app on your PC.

2) The PlayStation Now app should open automatically after installation, but if it doesn’t, open the app manually.

3) You will be taken to the registration window – if you already have a Sony Entertainment Network login (like most PlayStation players) click ‘Sign in now’ but if not, follow the prompts above screen to create an account from scratch.

4) Once logged in, you’ll be greeted by a banner prompting you to start your free 7-day trial, as well as a selection of games you can play. Click the “7 day free trial” button and follow the prompts to sign up for a PlayStation Now trial using your SEN credentials. It should be noted that the trial automatically turns into a subscription unless you go to your Account Settings, click on Media, click on a PS Now subscription, and click “Cancel Automatic Renewal”.

5) Once you’ve signed up, it’s time to choose a game to play. You can browse the selection of PS3 games in a Netflix-style layout and simply click “Start” on the game you want to play. While most games will be streamed instantly, larger games (like infamous 2) will require some sort of download before doing so.

Once you’ve clicked Start and started the game, it’s time to plug in and use your DualShock 4 controller. Once it’s plugged in, you’re ready to play!

Since PS Now games are streamed and not downloaded, you can sync your progress between different PCs and PlayStations, allowing you to pick up where you left off during your lunch break at workplace without transferring any stored data.
